Ending the Silence and call upon the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to act

Time to act—As the atrocities of forced organ harvesting continue in China, more needs to be done

With the risk of irking the worlds second biggest global power, people worldwide have stepped forward to face China, and voice their opposition to forced organ harvesting and the brutal political persecution of spiritual groups in a country now widely known for its unethical and  inhumane organ transplant industry.

The year 2013 was marked by global awareness and concern by individuals at the grass roots level to governments worldwide, demanding immediate decisive action to stop the unethical practice.

Initiated by DAFOH a petition to the UN High Commissioner circulated in 53 countries on 5 continents and received endorsement by almost 1.5 million people from all walks of life. On Dec. 9, 2013 a DAFOH delegation hand delivered the result of the petition to the UNHRC office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights Madame Navi Pillay in Geneva. On that day another team from DAFOH visited the staff of Samantha Power, United States Ambassador to the UN, in New York City presenting an update on the global demand for action, international efforts and legislation.

Addressed to Commissioner Pillay, the DAFOH petition asks Madame to call for the immediate end of forced organ harvesting in China, to initiate investigations that will lead to the prosecution of those responsible, to prevent collusion and complicity, and to call upon the Chinese government to end the persecution of the detained Falun Gong and other spiritual and religious groups.

The 1.5 million petitioners have put their hopes in the action of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to help end this abuse. DAFOH invites its readership to join the petitioners in writing to the High Commissioner and requesting a response.
