Can we afford to let the fox guard the hen house?

New guidelines recently published by The Council of Europe aim “to facilitate the implementation of the principle that the human body and its parts must not, as such, give rise to financial gain.”  Meanwhile, in China, eyewitness evidence has proved transplant hospitals are selling organs at high prices to foreigners and offering expedited surgeries with matching organs if additional “donations” are made. Recent analysis of a Chinese medical article plainly reveals the “donor” was living at the time of vital organ extraction. The World Health Organization’s appointment of a controversial Chinese transplant surgeon as Honorary Chair of the WHO Task Force on Donation and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues is like letting the fox guard the hen house.

There is a growing awareness within the US intelligence, military, political, business, and academic communities of the subtle and pervasive infiltration by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) into multiple facets of American society. FBI director Christopher Wray recently declared this “represents the broadest, most challenging, most significant threat” that America faces.  In fact, the FBI is investigating active espionage activities by the CCP in all 50 states. A key element of recently introduced legislation intended to combat such influences is requiring that Confucius Institutes, identified by the FBI as covers for Chinese intelligence and influence operations, register under the Foreign Agents' Registration Act.

If so many can recognize the sinister nature of the CCP’s real agenda, why aren’t leading transplant professionals and WHO officials questioning China’s transplant reform propaganda? it can only be assumed that these individuals act not out of ignorance but rather from willful blindness. As Canadian attorney David Matas has pointed out, “A person who commits a criminal act and is willfully blind is as guilty of a crime as a person who commits the act with full knowledge.”

Alex Newman of the New American writes: “The regime enslaving mainland China has murdered more people than any other government in human history. Using forced abortions, executions of dissidents, and even organ harvesting, it continues to slaughter innocent people in massive numbers. And yet, today, the communist regime's agents are running a vast array of international organizations, including key United Nations agencies and even Interpol, the self-styled global law-enforcement outfit. Considering the horrific crimes perpetrated by the regime, and its growing lust for global power and what it touts as a Beijing-led ‘New World Order,’ it is absolutely essential that civilized governments take a stand. The alternative, if China's barbarous rulers get their way, will be global savagery on an unimaginable scale.”

DAFOH representatives present event during US State Department’s Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom week

DAFOH joined the week-long events in Washington DC last month in support of the US State Department’s Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom. Doctors referred to China’s forced organ harvesting practices against Falun Gong practitioners as part of a subtle or “cold” genocide to annihilate this group. US Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom Sam Brownback said, “We must commit to using all the might, the machinery, and the moral authority we have to stop those nations and actors who trample on free souls."

Enormous surge in the detainment of Uighurs raised concerns over forced organ harvesting

In the spring of 2017 reports began to emerge that large numbers of Uighurs were being rounded up and detained in China’s Xinjiang province. Last month, the US Congressional Executive Commission on China estimated that 500,000-1,000,000 Uighurs are currently in detention. This surge of mass detention, coupled with reports of widespread DNA profiling and blood testing, mirrors what millions of Falun Gong practitioners have endured for nearly two decades, suggesting that the Chinese Communist Party has added Uighur prisoners of conscience to the captive living organ donor bank that fuels its profitable transplantation industry.

Forced organ harvesting: A mechanism of insidious “cold” genocide in China

On November 30, 1999, Li Lanqing, under Jiang’s directions, announced to 3,000 fellow CCP officials at the Great Hall of Beijing a policy against Falun Gong to "defame their reputations, bankrupt them financially and destroy them physically."

Professor Arthur Caplan from the NYU School of Medicine said, “It is not up for discussion whether murder for parts is taking place in China. The question is whether we will continue to put up with it.”

We ask our readers a similar question: Will we continue to put up with the cold genocide of Falun Gong and other prisoners of conscience in China?

Human Rights Groups Speak Out at The Transplant Society Congress

The China Organ Harvest Research Center (COHRC) released their updated evidence last month at the 27th International Congress of The Transplantation Society (TTS) in Madrid, Spain.

Grace Yin, author and lead researcher of the report said, "Our findings underscore the problem with taking the Chinese government's claims of reform at face value. We hope it leads to a re-evaluation of how international institutions engage with Chinese transplant entities."

In the report’s forward, medical ethicist Arthur Caplan from New York University’s School of Medicine wrote, “China, as this outstanding, thorough, and well-documented report shows, continues to permit abuses of human rights and the minimal ethical treatment of its citizens in permitting killing in order to obtain organs for transplant.”

Recap of Five Years – DAFOH Petition to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights

Over the past five years, volunteers collected over 3 million signatures in over 50 countries and regions around the world for DAFOH's petition to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. The petition asks the UN to call for an immediate end to forced organ harvesting of all prisoners of conscience in China, primarily Falun Gong practitioners but also Uighurs, House Christians and Tibetans. The UN High Commissioner has yet to act on the petition. Unfortunately, the recent departure of the United States from the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva may further impede the possibility of any significant action by the United Nations.

Additionally, DAFOH holds the position that the appointment of Huang Jiefu to the WHO Task Force on Donation and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues is in clear contrast to the WHO task force’s mission and it is on ethical grounds that DAFOH strongly disagrees with the WHO’s decision to appoint Huang.

The world continues to speak out against China’s transplant practices

People around the world continue to speak out against China's unethical organ transplantation practices. The states of Missouri, Georgia, and Arizona in the United States as well as the nations of Canada, Japan and Australia have all either passed or are in the process of passing legislative statements that condemn China’s organ harvesting practices. Human rights advocates award the tireless efforts of independent researchers to expose organ pillaging from prisoners of conscience sanctioned and directed by the Chinese government.

About DAFOH

Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting (DAFOH) aims to provide the medical community and society with objective findings of unethical and illegal organ harvesting. Organ harvesting, the removal of organs from a donor, without free and voluntary consent, is considered a crime against humanity, as well as a threat to the integrity of medical science in general. This edition of our newsletter offers up-to-date information on international efforts to stop unethical organ harvesting.
